Torbay Hospital is a District General Hospital providing acute services to the people of South Devon. The hospital is situated in the 'English Riviera' and is recognised as a health community which has achieved considerable improvements in patient care due to integrated working and good relationships with our community partners.
Torbay Hospital has a modern and well equipped library and the Horizon Centre, which opened in June 2009, is a state-of-the-art facility for healthcare innovation, education, training and research.
The department offers comprehensive supervised training in the management of oral and maxillofacial surgery. Experience is gained in the general medical management of medically compromised patients admitted under our care. Orthodontic and Restorative Dentistry clinics are also timetabled. There are regular weekly tutorials in oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics and restorative dentistry which are supervised by the Consultants. Surgical training is delivered in theatre on a one-to-one basis.
We currently have a mixture of Senior House Officer posts as well as a flourishing GPT scheme currently shared with Mr Bruce Pearson, GDP in Tiverton, Devon and Andrew Coombes, GDP in Dawlish, Devon. Previous trainees have been very successful in obtaining post-graduate diplomas, often at the first attempt and all are actively encouraged to use their study leave on appropriate courses to obtain their MFDS.
Full details of the post will be made available when advertised.
February and August are the usual change over dates.
Adverts appear in both the British Dental Journal, British Medical Journal and also on NHS Jobs.
