Cheltenham General and Gloucestershire Royal Hospitals are both Acute District Hospitals, being part of the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Both hospitals provide a full range of routine and specialist care for the residents of Gloucestershire. The hospitals are currently in the process of centralising in patient OMFS care to the Gloucester site.
There are 6 SHO posts, which are European Working Time Directive and New Deal compliant. All posts are for 6 months, and are renewable subject to Trainer review. On call rota is 1 in 6, the rota being on a full shift basis. One of the six posts is a GPT post linked to a DF1(VT) year in the Tetbury dental practice. The SHOs have clinical duties at both Gloucester and Cheltenham Hospitals. Posts are recognised for the MJDF/MFDSRCS and the MRCS examination.
