Ansa Akram, Senior StR in Orthodontics at Bristol Dental Hospital has been awarded a research grant of £ 36,000 by the British OrthodonticSociety Foundation.
This is for continuation of her research on Hypodontia which she started during her Doctorate in Dental Surgery from
Bristol University. She developed and validated a quality of life measure for Hypodontia patients.
Her current study is a multicentre study involving Bristol, Bath, Taunton, Exeter, Sheffield and two hospitals in London.
The aim is to use the questionnaire on 200 hypodontia patients before and at the completion of treatment to asses changes in their quality of life.
