On Friday 30th July 2010, the School and Hospital said a very fond farewell to four members of staff who have now left to enjoy their retirement.

Sally Gregg, Secretary to the Specialty of Restorative Dentistry, has been at the University for 20 years and we will miss her enthusiasm and good humour immensely. Sally was presented with a number of superb gifts from friends and colleagues by Consultant Senior Lecturer, Susan Hooper.

Keith Howell, Laboratory Support Officer, and Bob Benjamin, Teaching Fellow, will be sorely missed from their office in the Clinical Skills Laboratory. Both have made a fantastic contribution to undergraduate teaching, as well as many other roles in the School including procurement and health and safety. Their speech was given by Mike Wheeler, Dental Services Manager.

Dr Peter Shellis, Research Fellow, received a rousing introduction from Lecturer and fellow researcher, Michele Barbour. Peter has been with the School since 1990 and has achieved international recognition in his field of research. Peter has been an inspirational colleague and will be missed by all of us who had the privilege to work with him.

To ensure that these four colleagues left in style, a summer barbecue party was arranged for all staff and postgraduate students. The event was well-attended, with a very positive and enjoyable atmosphere.

We wish these four all the very best for the future and a long and happy retirement!
