Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
CPD is mandatory for all Dental Care Professionals (DCP's). As a registered DCP you have the responsibility to maintain the highest clinical standards and deliver the best possible levels of patient care throughout your professional career.

Bristol DCP courses
Professional career advancement ensures the highest level of patient care. To help you achieve this we provide academic and hands-on courses for further professional development for registered DCP's.
Our School is integrated with the University of Bristol Dental Hospital and School. All post qualification programmes are subject to rigorous quality assurance assessments by the University of Bristol and the General Dental Council.
2018 Programmes for qualified Dental Hygienists & Therapists
Course: Local Anaesthetic Administration (2 day course)
Dates: Friday 13th July & Friday 7th September 2018 (both days mandatory)
Cost: £375 Time: 9.30am to 5pm both days
Aim: To acquire the knowledge and skills to be able to administer a safe, comfortable and effective technique for both local infiltration and inferior dental block administration. The training days consist of both theoretical and practical components.
Course: Temporary dressings, removal of cement with rotary instruments & recementing crowns with temporary cement
Date: Thursday 12th July 2018
Cost: £180.00 Time: 9.30am to 1.00pm
Aim: To give theoretical knowledge and confidence to place temporary restorations if existing restorations are lost or displaced. It includes a practical element of selecting, mixing and placing correct restorative materials in different types of cavities. In addition the course enables the participant to remove composite and cements particularly for post orthodontic treatment and recementing crowns with temporary cement.
Course: Taking Alginate Impressions
Date: Thursday 12th July 2018
Cost: £100.00 Time 2pm to 4pm
Aim: To deliver theoretical knowledge and practical experience to enable the hygienist to take effective alginate impressions.

Dental Postgraduate Studies (BUOLD21C)
We welcome applications from Dental Hygienists and Dental Therapists to units on our Dental Postgraduate Studies programme. Qualified Dental Hygienists and Therapists can take one or more units to extend their knowledge and understanding in particular areas, including Local Anaesthesia, Anxiety Management and Law & Ethics. CPD certificates are provided for all units.
