ACCIS DTC feature in University of Bristol film

One of the new research highlight films released by the University of Bristol celebrates the strong links between ACCIS and industry.  The Composites Industry Links film focuses on three ACCIS Doctoral Training Centre PhD students, their specific research areas in composite materials and their individual experiences.

A key message is the benefit they have felt in having support from both an ACCIS staff supervisor and by the close link with their industrial sponsors, who provide both financial and technical support to the students throughout their studies.

Neil Buckney, who is analysing ways to optimise the efficiency of wind turbine blades supported by Vestas, commented: "The relationship between the University and industry is mutually beneficial.  As a researcher you receive the funding to do something you are really interested in while the research can also have more impact and be applied in industry".

The students also praise the multidisciplinary nature of the DTC programme and the benefits of the collaborative working environment created for students and researchers within the ACCIS open plan offices.
