The conference will be held in the Powell Lecture Theatre in the Department of Physics (see precinct map for location or link to MapQuest for location within the city of Bristol), University of Bristol, located about 200 km west of London, about one and a half hours by train. Bristol has strong associations with the 19th century engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel who designed the Clifton Suspension bridge, which is close to the University. His SS Great Britain was the first large iron hulled, propeller driven steamship, and the conference dinner will take place on the ship. Bristol is at the heart of the aerospace industry. Airbus, Rolls Royce and BAESystems are based here, with other large users of composites such as Agusta Westland and Dowty Propellers nearby.

Bristol is approximately 1 and a half hour's journey from London and is easily accessible by direct bus from Heathrow (2 hours) and Gatwick (3 hours) airports. It also has its own international airport with connections worldwide via Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels.
