IACMI – Composites Institute and Applications Development in Long and Continuous Fiber Thermoplastics
Uday Vaidya, UT/ORNL Governors’ Chair and Chief Technology Officer, IACMI
The Johnson Room | National Composites Centre
Summary: The seminar is organized into two parts – (a) The Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI) is the nation’s largest institute in advanced composites technologies for automotive, wing and compressed gas storage. The IACMI is part of the Presidential initiative in establishing a national network of manufacturing institutes. The structure and public-private partnership of the IACMI will be discussed; and (b) There is a tremendous interest and growth in thermoplastic composites. Recent work done in applications for transportation and defense with discontinuous and continuous fiber thermoplastics will be presented.
