Carol Propper, Sarah Smith, Leroy White and John McCormack have been awarded a small grant grant from the Nuffield Foundation on Measuring Management Practices in Not-For-Profit Organisations. The grant will run from 1st August 2009 until the end of October 2009.This project will develop and implement a robust survey instrument to measure management practices in not-for-profit organisations in the UK. This will be closely based on a survey already developed by researchers at the LSE which has been used to measure management in the public and private sectors. The underlying aims of the project are to build up a clearer picture of management practices within the sector (including service area, activity and market conditions), to compare management practices in the third sector with those in other sectors and to understand the link between management practices in the third sector and objective outcome indicators such as total revenue and revenue growth.
