In the last twenty years there has been a shift towards the privatisation of many public services, frequently combined with an “arms length” regulatory relationship between service providers and the state. More recently, however, there has been enormous interest in closer, more complex partnerships between public and private sectors. Indeed, the IMF has recently described public-private partnerships as ‘a wave that is sweeping the world’. The aim of this workshop is to bring together academics and practitioners to present recent academic research in this field and to consider policy issues. Presentations will cover diverse topics including contractual problems, public service motivation, project finance, experience in developing economies and privatising pensions.
Admission is free and lunch will be provided for all participants.
