Subscription information using RSS
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) may be used to subscribe to various areas of dynamic content across the University of Bristol website, such as podcasts and news feeds. RSS feeds are usually highlighted by the RSS logo (
). When you see this logo on a webpage, click on it to see the RSS information for that particular feed. You will be given the option to subscribe to the feed from this page, using an RSS application such as Google Reader (there are many to choose from).
Subscribing to podcasts
You can manage your podcast subscriptions with several dedicated software applications, such as iTunes. To add a podcast feed to iTunes:
- click on the RSS logo to be taken to the RSS feed page;
- copy the RSS URL in your browser's address bar (eg. http://bristol.ac.uk/example-feed.rss);
- open iTunes and go to Advanced > Subscribe to Podcast...;
- paste the RSS URL into the dialogue box and click OK.
The podcast feed will be added to iTunes and new episodes will be added automatically.
