Prof. Melanie Sanford receives award for her distinguished work in the fields of high-valent organometallic complexes and novel fluorination methodology.

On 7th September 2017, we were delighted to welcome Professor Melanie Sanford from the University of Michigan (USA). She was here to receive the 2017 BCS CDT - Syngenta Award which is a prize awarded by the postgraduate student community.

During her visit, Prof. Sanford gave two seminars entitled "Development and Applications of New Fluorination Reactions" and "Synthesis, Reactivity, and Catalytic Relevance of High-Valent Nickel Complexes", which were enjoyed by  students and academics alike.

The student committee organised a busy day of activities of which the student Q&A session was a highlight, allowing postgraduates to find out more about the research in the Sanford Group as well as some more information about Melanie herself.

We would like to thank Professor Sanford for an exciting day of Chemistry.
