Background

I did my first degree at the University of Essex at Colchester in Kent in Environmental chemistry. After this I was employed as a formulation scientist at Zeneca Agrochemicals in Kent for 18 months. I worked on my PhD thesis between 1998 and 2002 at the University entitled 'Development and remote controlled deployment of non-liquid cryogen equipment used in the measurement of non-methane hydrocarbons' under the supervision of Dr. Graham Nickless. I have been a post-doctoral associate at the University of Bristol since September 2002.

Research Interests

My research is involved in the characteristics of dispersion on both short and medium scales. The characterisation of these processes is elucidated using tracer technologies. Tracer compounds are used to identify and trace the movement of an air parcel over both short and medium term distances. Development of instrumentation used in the release, sampling and analysis of tracer samples constitutes a large part of my work here in Bristol.
