New lecturer Lucy Cramp

Lucy first graduated from Oxford in 2003 in Archaeology & Anthropology followed by an MSc there in Archaeological Science. In 2004 she began a PhD at the University of Reading researching the chemistry of organic residues in Roman pottery. This developed into a collaborative project between Reading and Bristol, with Lucy obtaining her doctorate in 2008.

A series of postdoctoral projects followed, ranging from the organic chemistry of ancient Egyptian mummies to the reconstruction of food acquisition strategies of Early Neolithic farmers in the British Isles, Europe and Africa using lipid biomarkers and stable isotopes.

Lucy's appointment is an exciting development as it builds on an area of major research strength in Bristol, cementing the growing links between Archaeology & Anthropology and Chemistry, and science more generally across the university.
