Davis group reports glucose-binding 'synthetic lectin'

Glucose-binding synthetic lectin
A glucose-binding 'synthetic lectin', prepared in the group of Tony Davis, has been reported in Nature Chemistry.  This surprisingly simple molecule shows good affinity and excellent selectivity for glucose versus other carbohydrates.  Binding can be detected by a change in fluorescence, providing a signal that could be exploited in medical glucose sensors.
