Profile
Peter von Staden is Senior Lecturer in International Business at Bristol Business School, at the University of the West of England.
His undergraduate studies were taken at Royal Military College, Kingston (Canada) in military history. Having served in the Royal Canadian Navy, he was awarded the Monbusho Scholarship and gained his MA in Japanese politics at Yokohama National University. Subsequently he was awarded his Ph.D. at the London School of Economics in Economic History.
His doctorate was on government and business relations in the amalgamation of Japan’s iron and steel industry during the Taisho and early Showa period. Current research is focussed on institutional theory, in particular New Institutional Economics and Economic Sociology, and its application to our understanding of the role played by politico-business interaction in facilitating economic adaptivity and institutional change.
