Profile

Roger Smith is responsible for the English language programmes run by the University of Bristol Language Centre. His main professional interests are related to teaching, assessment and quality assurance in the area of English for Academic Purposes. He was formerly the Chair of the BALEAP Accreditation Scheme and is currently an IELTS Examiner Trainer and a member of the English in Britain Accreditation Scheme Advisory Committee.Roger has been involved in preparing students from South East Asia for undergraduate and postgraduate study in the UK for many years. In this time, he has visited and worked in numerous countries in South East Asian. He is therefore very familiar with the challenges students from this region experience when acclimatising to the study environment of a UK university.
