CDT postgraduate students take to the skies
18 May 2017
Postgraduate students in the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Communications have shown that whilst pursuing cutting-edge research for their PhDs, there are many opportunities to participate in exciting non-academic activities. A number of our postgraduates are members of the Bristol University Hot Air Balloon Society and hold key roles including President, Treasurer and Trainee Pilot. They took the new look balloon for it's first flight today.
Jenny Chakravarty, President of the Society and CDT in Communications PhD student commented ‘Being a part of a student ballooning team is something very unique to Bristol. It's great to get outdoors and do something different. The views of Bristol definitely outweigh the 5am starts!’
Professor Mark Beach, Centre Manger of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Communications, commented ‘the wide range of extra- curricular activities available to postgraduate students at Bristol provides a great chance to take a break from study’.
