4-year fully funded PhD studentships

4 October 2016

Studentships are only available to EPSRC eligible students - UK citizens or EU citizens who have been registered in the UK for the last 3 years. A limited number of studentships may be available to EU citizens not resident in the UK.

We are no longer accepting applications for September 2017 entry. Applications for September 2018 entry will be accepted from the 9th October 2017.

Applications are invited from UK/EU students with, or expecting to gain, a first or upper second class honours degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics or similar numerate discipline to join the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Communications integrated 4-year PhD programme. The next intake will commence the programme in September 2017.

The CDT in Communications PhD programme structure enables students joining the programme from different degree specialisms to develop their knowledge of Communications.

Full funding consisting of fees and living expenses, of £17,000 in year 1 and £18,000 in years 2-4 is available to the highest quality candidates who are UK citizens. EU citizens who have been resident in the UK for over three years are also eligible for full funding. A limited number of fully funded studentships may be available to EU citizens, and fees only funding will be available to other EU citizens. Funding will also be provided for conference travel and secondments.

Please note that funding is not available for international applicants but applications from students with a guaranteed source of funding are welcome.
