Caroline Taylor wins the 'Pecha Kucha' competition

Dr Caroline Taylor was the winner of the ‘Pecha Kucha’ presentation competition at the ‘Going public’ Academic Practice Symposium held by University of Bristol Academic Staff Development, in The Orangery at Goldney Hall on 13 April 2016.
Pecha Kucha takes its name from the Japanese for ‘chit-chat’. The aim of this approach is keep the presentation concise and focussed by the inclusion of 20 slides, each of which is displayed for 20 seconds. The competition was chaired by Professor Jeremy Tavare, who was assisted by Professor Dave Cliff and Julie Jupe. Caroline’s presentation was entitled ‘Eating fish in pregnancy: a good idea or not?’ and described ongoing studies on the effects of mercury in fish eaten during pregnancy and aspects of child development.
