Outreach

Supported by the Centre for Public Engagement, the University organises a range of public exhibitions and outreach events where the environment and sustainability are key themes. Recent major events have included Discover 2010 and the University's contribution to Bristol's Festival of Nature. We also support a variety of school activities aimed at raising awareness of environmental matters amongst pupils and demonstrating the importance of University research in addressing global challenges such as energy provision and poverty alleviation. For example, the Bristol branch of the student-led charity Engineers Without Borders runs a highly successful outreach programme, providing school students with practical teaching activities in areas such as Water Purification and Renewable Energy.

In addition to these initiatives, the University is aiming to lead by example by creating a sustainable environment for it's staff and students. Please see our sustainability web pages for further information.
