The BBC has filmed Cabot Institute scientists at the University of Bristol who have successfully mapped radiation levels around Fukushima using a drone.
Dr Tom Scott and his team claim it is the safest way to monitor radiation levels after a tsunami triggered a nuclear disaster at Fukushima in 2011.
