Jo House organises international workshop on global land use change emissions

Cabot Fellow Jo House is jointly organising an international workshop on "Global land use change emissions, data and modelling" on 17 - 19 October at Exeter University.Land use change contributes around 12% to annual emissions of greenhouse gasses over the last decade, but estimates vary widely due to differences in underlying data sets, processes considered (e.g. land management, fate of products) and modelling approaches.
This meeting will aim to reconcile and improve future global estimates addressing data sources, and developing standardised modelling protocols.
The outcomes of the meeting will include input to the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report, input to the high profile annual carbon budgets produced by the Global Carbon Project, and a series of planned papers.
The meeting is being jointly funded ad organised by the Global Carbon Project (Jo House, leads the Land Use Activity for GCP) and the EU TERRABITES Project (Stephen Sitch, Exeter University).
