Teaching
The University is strongly promoting a range of new teaching initiatives linked to environmental technologies and sustainable development:
-
The Faculty of Engineering's undergraduate degree programmes incorporate a wide variety of teaching modules in this area, including Sustainable Systems, Power Generation for the 22nd Century, Wind and Marine Power and Engineering for the Built Environment, many of which feature significant input from industrial partners. In addition, the Engineering Doctorate in Systems, which provides companies with access to high quality graduates, includes a range of projects linked to environmental technologies.
-
An interdisciplinary optional teaching module in Sustainable Development, open to all undergraduate students, was launched in 2005-06, and now attracts over 100 students per year. The success of this initiative helped secure the University a major environmental accolade in the Times Higher Awards.
-
Unique MSc courses in areas such as Earth Systems Science, and The Science of Natural Hazards offer focused learning opportunities in various environmental disciplines.
