Alcohol Research UK - Grants programme – April 2017 to March 2018

Alcohol Research UK is dedicated to supporting new research in the alcohol field. Over the last 30 years, we have awarded £24 million in funding to over 900 projects, many of which have made a significant contribution to the evidence base in this area.
Alcohol Research UK offers funding in various disciplines & areas.
Research Innovation Grants
This programme provides up to £75,000 for projects that address emerging issues in alcohol research, employ novel theoretical or methodological approaches, or pilot new work in treatment or service delivery.
Grants of up to £8,000 for small projects lasting up to 12 months.
Up to a maximum of £3,000 will be available for applicants organising conferences or events that support the establishment of research networks seeking to develop new themes in alcohol research. No institution will be awarded more than £3,000 for network development in any financial year.
Up to £300 is available to enable Early Career Researchers to be able to deliver a paper at a conference which is relevant to, or furthers the aims of, Alcohol Research UK’s programme of work.
Postgraduate Research Studentships
We will match fund (£10,000 per year for three years) up to three studentships a year to enable students to undertake research in the alcohol field leading to a PhD and applications must be made by the university.
Applicants should read both the Research Strategy and the appropriate Guidance for Applicants documents before developing their proposals. Applicants should also ensure they apply to the scheme that is most appropriate to the scale and design of their project.
