EPSRC Centres for Mathematical Sciences in Healthcare

19 November 2014

EPSRC intends to commit up to £6 million to support the creation of Multidisciplinary Research Centres, bringing together researchers working in the Mathematical Sciences with academics and stakeholders within the Healthcare Technologies space.

The focus of each Centre will be a programme of world leading, challenge led, novel research addressing significant mathematical or statistical challenges of direct relevance to Healthcare Technologies. Networking and knowledge exchange activities will also be important elements within successful Centres. Centres will be expected to engage new academic, industrial and/or clinical partners over the lifetime of the award.

The following areas of research have been identified as having the potential to derive benefit from a cross-disciplinary research centre:
  • Multiscale modelling and multi-modal data integration in Healthcare.
  • Complex networks in Healthcare.
  • Innovative design of clinical trials.
However, applications will be considered for Centres which seek to address mathematical science challenges of direct relevance to Healthcare Technologies outside of these topics, provided the timeliness, novelty and potential impact of the research can be demonstrated.

We invite UoB researchers to contact jane.khawaja@bristol.ac.uk if they are interested in applying.

The deadline for submission of outline proposals will be 16:00 on 29 January 2015.
