In Bristol we have a major collaboration with colleagues in the School of Geography where we are exploring the potential of crop plants to contribute towards environment change mitigation. A major current interest is a bio-geoengineering strategy based on crop leaf albedo (Rigewell et all 2009; Woodward et al 2009).

In 2009 Dr Xiaodong Xie and Alistair Hetherington established the Tianjin-Bristol joint laboratory for research into the effects of climate change on crop species. Details of the lab and ongoing projects can be found at http://www.tjaufc.cn/TBRC/eindex.html
