Dr Steve Simpson has been awarded a 2-year NERC Knowledge Exchange Fellowship to be held in the School of Biological Sciences with strong links throughout the Cabot Institute and Faculty of Science. The fellowship will allow Steve to drive forward his two major research themes – Effects of climate change on fish and fisheries, and Impacts of anthropogenic noise on marine ecosystems – and enable him to develop his research in partnership with policymakers, industry representatives, marine managers and the general public.
Steve will receive substantial training from NERC in knowledge exchange, delivering impact from research, and creating and sustaining productive partnerships between academic and end-user communities. During his Fellowship, Steve will pass on this training, and work with research groups throughout the University on developing ways to maximise the societal value of their research.
