Software

Using Remote Desktop you can control your work PC from anywhere, as if you are sitting in front of it.  This is an easy way to use licensed software from anywhere, but you have to leave your PC on, which isn't very green.  You can also connect to a standard University desktop.  Students, see: Student@Home Remote Desktop.  Staff, see: Staff Desktop service

Most specialist software can be installed on University-owned laptops and some can be installed on personally-owned computers.  Staff can get free copies of Microsoft Windows and Office for their home PC (work-related use only).  See the software page.  Personal copies of Office are cheapest through Microsoft's Ultimate Steal promotion.
