Members of the School of Biochemistry are often asked to visit Schools and Community Groups to talk about their work, and Biochemical research in general. They also go out out to schools to talk about careers in biosciences.
Dr Mark Szczelkun recently visited Tynings School in Staple Hill to talk about DNA. Mark helped students to extract the DNA from a kiwi fruit and then showed them how to to analyse the DNA using a simple version of the techniques used for DNA fingerprinting.
If you would like a member of the School of Biochemistry to visit your school or community group, email Elinor Griffiths to arrange it.
