Research Interests: Epigenetic mechanisms of resistant disease in childhood leukaemia
I have been working as part of the Paediatric Oncology Therapeutics Group (POET) for two years. We are interested in epigenetic mechanisms behind the onset of drug resistance in childhood leukaemia. The main focus of my work so far has been to look at the methylation status of specific genes using a range of bisulphite based techniques. These include bisulphite sequencing, methylation specific PCR and combined bisulphite and restriction analysis (COBRA). We are now beginning to use methylation microarrays which cover 12,200 potential CpG islands and therefore give the opportunity to look at methylation in a global manner.
