Study bedrooms

A typical female student room - using pin board as a decorative frame for momentos.

The configuration of the room is carefully planned to ensure no hazards arise from blocked heater units.   It is better to bring minimal belongings in the first weeks, rather than having to reassess what you can keep and what must go back home on arrival day.

Even the boys have tidy rooms occasionally!  These pictures give a good idea of the space in each single room.  New students are asked not to bring extra furniture to Hall.   If a personal fridge is needed for medical reasons the University will provide this - otherwise fridges and coolers my not be used.

Accommodation is, for the most part, on corridors of 12 rooms in buildings housing 3 or 4 floors.  There are two sets of 4 rooms - MB Annexe and the Old Library Annexe, where a less crowded atmosphere prevails.   Communal living is fun and hectic; it is important that a mutual understanding is reached over the right to quiet at night.   Similarly, residents need to appreciate that living in Hall is distinctly different from home life and no one can exercise the same control over noise from others during the active parts of the day, as is possible in a private house.

Social Life

Then there is the social life in Hall ......  Badock is famous for the variety of entertainments organised by the JCR Committee, they work hard to offer events to suit all tastes.

Pub Quiz nights, speed dating, music nights, open mic events, themed fancy dress outings all complement the sports fixtures, drama and cultural opportunities within the Hall.

The Badock Gemini Club Bar is shown above in full swing  - this is the main meeting place in Hall and the venue for some of  the best entertainment in Stoke Bishop.
