ERC Starting Grants 2017

The European Research Council (ERC) is a Europe-wide Research Council intended to stimulate ground breaking investigator-initiated research across all fields.

Aim of the award

ERC Starting Grants are intended to enable exceptional researchers between 2 and 7 years from PhD completion to become fully independent research leaders. They are particularly intended to enable the researcher to create or strengthen their own research team or programme.

Maximum funding: €1.5 million over 5 years, rising to €2 million in special cases.

Internal process

Contact the relevant School Research Director to ascertain intellectual synergies between the School of your choice and your research.

Applicants are then required to complete a brief University application form for internal review. The internal application form should be submitted in electronic form to eu-research@bristol.ac.uk
