The Special Collections of the University Library hold a wealth of rare books printed in Italy during the Renaissance, ranging from the great works of literary giants, such as Dante and Ariosto, to medical treatises and technical manuals. This workshop, run by art historians and literary scholars, will present a selection of these rarely seen treasures, and consider how the presentation of the printed book informs our understanding of Italian Renaissance culture. The workshop will combine short presentations with discussion and close-up handling of rare books.
This event is part of InsideArts festival 2015.
