As part of the Inside Arts festival, and under the umbrella of the national Being Human festival, core staff from the Life of Breath project offer an evening examining breathing and breathlessness.

The panel will include Professor Havi Carel (Department of Philosophy, Bristol), author of Illness: The cry of the flesh; Professor Gene Feder (Primary Care, Bristol), a GP with a particular interest in respiratory conditions; and Dr Alice Malpass (Social and Community Medicine, Bristol), who conducts research into mindfulness and CBT in respiratory patients with anxiety, and is a trained mindfullness-based cognitive therapy practitioner. The Life of Breath staff will be joined by Rupert Gethin, who has practised Buddhist mindfulness of breathing for thirty years; and Kate Binnie, a yoga practitioner, trained singer and music therapist, working with patients in palliative care.

The discussion will be chaired by the philosopher Julian Baggini, followed by questions from the audience and to conclude with some mindfulness of breathing practice led by Alice Malpass.

This event is part of InsideArts festival 2015.
