Graphic Medicine - An Evening with Anuerin Wright
Café Kino, 108 Stokes Croft, Bristol, BS1 3RU
Join illustrator and graphic novelist Aneurin Wright as he discusses the intersection of breathlessness, medicine, family and storytelling. Wright is an ex-pat American living in Brighton who took the experience of caring for his father who was dying of emphysema and — 8 years later — turned it into a graphic novel, “Things to do in a Retirement Home Trailer Park... When You’re 29 and Unemployed”.
Wright will read excerpts from his book and discuss how the process of bringing his experience to visual life helped him to understand his father, death and dying and himself in ways he never could have imagined.
Aneurin will give a talk, then there will be discussion between himself and Jordan Collver about comics / graphic medicine, followed by some time for Q&A.
