Paul Roberts 'Last Supper in Pompeii'
Badminton School, Peace Memorial Hall
The Bristol Classical Association is delighted to announce its 2018/19 programme of events, which concludes with 'Last Supper in Pompeii', a talk by Dr Paul Roberts.
This talk will introduce the upcoming major exhibition at the Ashmolean Museum on food and drink in Roman society, from dining to religion. Paul Roberts is currently the Sackler Keeper of Antiquities at the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology in Oxford and his research interests focus on the archaeology and art of the Classical Mediterranean from the fourth century BC to the sixth centuries AD. Formerly, he was Roman Curator (1994-2007) and Senior Roman Curator (2007-2015) in the Department of Greek and Roman Antiquities at the British Museum, London, where he curated the exhibition ‘Life and Death in Pompeii and Herculaneum’ (2013). Paul is currently devoting his research time to curating ‘Last Supper in Pompeii’ (Ashmolean, 2019-20). We are delighted to welcome Paul to speak to the Bristol CA prior to the start of this exhibition.
