Fate, Luck and Fortune project Workshop 1: Historical narratives of environmental risk
University of Nottingham
This workshop examined the development of concepts of Fate and Luck in narratives from different historical periods, exploring how the characteristics of these concepts (if not these concepts themselves) have emerged in different temporal and spatial contexts.
How do we talk about the risks of our environment? Who do we blame when things go wrong?
This is one of a series of AHRC-funded events which set out to explore how concepts of fate, luck and fortune influence perceptions of agency in different types of narratives concerned with environmental risk.
