Old Council Chamber, Wills Memorial Building

Books at Bristol is delighted to announce 'The End of the Book', a one-day, interdisciplinary conference on Friday 18 November 2016.

  • How do we know when we have reached the end of a book?
  • What do we, as readers, expect to find at the end?
  • How have answers to these questions evolved over time, from the classical era through to the present day?

Confirmed keynote speakers: Professor Kate Pullinger, Bath Spa University, and Dr Laura Jansen, University of Bristol. A provisional programme can be found on the Books at Bristol website. The conference will be followed by a drinks reception.

Please register to attend on Eventbrite.

Conference organisers: Dr Rhiannon Daniels (Modern Languages), Dr Jennifer Batt (English), and Mr Richard Cole (Classics and Ancient History).

This conference is generously funded by the Institute of Greece, Rome, and the Classical Tradition (IGRCT), and the Bristol Institute for Research in the Humanities and Arts (BIRTHA).
