Convocation annually presents awards up to four students who have made an outstanding contribution to University life. The award may be given for any field, other than sport, which is already recognised by the award of the University Red. The contribution may be to fellow members of the University or to people outside the University through community action, or it may reflect the overcoming of personal difficulties such as disability.

Nominations are invited from fellow students or from members of staff. Nominees may be either undergraduate or postgraduate students, but must be registered students at time of the awards ceremony in December. The award winners receive £500.

The closing date for nominations is Friday 4th November 2011. The 2011 Awards will be announced at the Convocation Reception on 8 December 2011.

For more details on past award winners, please see our Convocation awards webpage.
