Bristol alumni who attended the British Council’s UK Alumni Gala Dinner in Shanghai

The Bristol party at the British Council’s UK Alumni Gala Dinner held in Shanghai on 20 March 2010

March saw Bristol alumni in China come together at the British Council’s UK Alumni Gala Dinners held in Beijing and Shanghai. The events provided Bristol alumni with the opportunity to network with one another, as well as meet graduates from other UK universities.

Tom Shi (MSc 2007), who attended the Shanghai event, said: ‘Besides sitting in the front view tables and enjoying succulent lamb grills, you were also excited by meeting friends of friends, networking with a wide range of diverse alumni, and participating in the charity auction. Despite the chilling evening air outside, I saw enthusiasm and opportunities warming up the dazzling hall. Inspired by the continuing relationship between us and our university, I think it’s time for all alumni in China to come together: Together, we prosper.’

The Gala Dinners are the British Council’s annual flagship alumni events in China. They kicked off other events for the coming year, including professional development workshops, exhibitions, lectures and mini-job fairs exclusively for UK alumni.
