Bristol alumna Anne-Marie Rawden (BA 2006) has launched a new tuition agency, Bristol Tutors, to provide affordable one-to-one tuition for school children of all ages in the Bristol area.
Private tuition is becoming increasingly popular, with more than a quarter of all state pupils having extra lessons privately in order to improve their performance in exams.
Bristol Tutors has recruited many of its tutors from the postgraduate education department at the University of Bristol. Others have been trained by the government-funded Widening Participation Department. Every tutor undergoes a fourfold check including an enhanced CRB check, proof of qualifications, professional references and an extensive interview. ‘Our interviews are extremely rigorous to ensure our tutors have excellent lesson planning skills and teaching ability,’ Anne-Marie explains. ‘The agency also aims to be the most competitively priced tuition agency in the south west.’
