(SOLD OUT) Bristol: Alumni tour of the Staffordshire Hoard Exhibition

27 January 2017, 10.30 AM - 27 January 2017, 1.00 PM

Bristol Museum and Art Gallery

Prepare to be captivated by a magnificent collection of Anglo-Saxon weaponry and treasures as part of the Staffordshire Hoard Exhibition, considered one of the most significant finds of the era, at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery this January.

The secrets of the hoard are still being uncovered through ongoing research and conservation. At one of these special visits, discover how a sword signified a warrior’s status and unearth the mysteries behind why such superbly crafted weapons might have been discarded. Who buried them? And did they intend to come back for them?

Don't miss out on the chance to attend this special exhibition with fellow alumni on 27 January at 10:30 am. The tour, organised by the Bristol Branch of the University of Bristol Alumni, can only take 12 people so book now while places remain.

Your visit includes an introduction to the collection and an audience with Senior Curator Gail Boyle. Afterwards, the group will meet in the museum’s coffee shop to share stories and findings in the company of fellow alumni.

The exhibition is wheelchair-friendly.

Cost £6 (£5 for over 65s - please bring proof of identity)
