Studying at the University of Bristol has proved very popular this year and there has been an increase in the number of students holding guaranteed offers of accommodation in university-allocated residences. To make sure as many students as possible are offered University-allocated accommodation, we have additional rooms available in residences located in Bath. These residences are Waterside Court and Charlton Court and Green Park House.

Waterside Court and Charlton Court

Where is Waterside Court and Charlton Court?

Waterside Court and Charlton Court are located on Lower Bristol Road in Bath. They are situated within a popular student area, and near to the city centre. 

What do the rooms look like?

All rooms are en-suite and self-catered. You can view images of the rooms in Waterside Court and Charlton Court, as well as seeing a video tour of this accommodation

What is the residence like?

The halls boast modern architecture and interiors. They are spacious, comfortable and every room has a fresh and contemporary feel. On the upper floor, there are fantastic views of the river Avon or the surrounding city of Bath. There is a laundrette on-site, as well as 24 hour security and free wireless internet. 

How close am I to the University of Bristol?

Both Waterside and Charlton Court are within a travelling distance of around one hour from the University of Bristol. The total travel time it takes to get to and from the University of Bristol are: 

    • By bus - approximately 1 hour 5 minutes (using the X39 service and a walk between the city centre and Clifton campus) 

       

    • By train - approximately 55 minutes (using the GWR service between Oldfield Park and Bristol Temple Meads and a walk or bus ride to campus)
    • By bike - approximately 1 hour 30 minutes (via the Bristol and Bath Railway Path)  

The X39 runs approximately every 15 minutes throughout the day between Bath and Bristol with a night bus (Service 39) operating the same route until around 3am. A full timetable is available from the First website.

Trains run regularly throughout the day and evening between Oldfield Park and Bristol Temple Meads with further, more frequent services extending later into the night between Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads. Train times and information on season tickets is available from the GWR website.

Do I get a travel bursery?

Yes - each student who lives in these residences will have a travel expenses bursary of£500 per term. This means you can buy a discounted pass for unlimited bus travel across the West of England (covering all of Bristol and Bath) for £399 for the academic year - and still have money left over for other trips.  

Once you have registered and arrived at your residence, your £500 travel bursary will automatically be paid into your bank account. You just need to make sure you’ve entered your bank details through the MyBristol portal so we can make the payment. 

For Charlton Court residents, you will also receive a free pass for the Bristol Unibus U1 as standard with your accommodation package which you can use for local travel between the city centre and Clifton campus – this will come in handy if you decide to use your travel bursary for the train rather than the West of England bus pass. 

You also have the option of buying a student rail card with your travel bursary. More information can be found on the GWR website.

Do I have access to Student Support?

Yes - Senior Residents will be living in the residence and students there will have full access to the Residential Life service. Residents can access the North Residential Village Residential Life services.  

What are the local facilities?

The local facilities include a Sainsbury's supermarket is only a 10 minute walk away. You will also be close to Moorland Road, a high street which boasts a range of shops and restaurants as well as a bank, post office, off-licence and chemist.

Green Park House

Where is Green Park House?

Green Park House is located on Green Park Road in Bath. It is situated within a popular student area, close to Green Park, and in the city centre. 

What are the rooms look like?

You can choose from standard rooms with en-suites or standard rooms with shared bathrooms, to living in a private studio flat, or two bed apartment (also known as twodios). All rooms in this residence are self-catered.

What is the residence like?

Green Park House has been finished to a high standard and fitted with quality, purpose-built furniture. It also offers a laundry room, bicycle storage facilities, a student common room, and a bookable study/meeting space. It also includes free wireless interent and 24 hour security. 

How close am I to the University of Bristol?

Green Park House is within a travelling distance of around one hour from the University of Bristol. The total travel time it takes to get to and from the University of Bristol are:  

      • By bus - approximately 1 hour 5 minutes (using the X39 service and a walk between the city centre and Clifton campus)
