Summer Language Students

Who can apply?

If you are going to study one of the following courses you can apply for a room in University accommodation for the duration of the course, provided you are not bringing any of your family with you:

• Pre-sessional course in English for academic purposes (Course A - 10 weeks)
• Pre-sessional course in English for academic purposes (Course B - 5 weeks)
• Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults
• Subsidised Programme in Intensive English and Communication Skills
• Intensive General English and Communication Skills (Course 1)

How to apply

You can apply for a room by ticking the box on the Language Centre application form. Rooms are offered on a first-come first-served basis (from June onwards), so please apply as early as you can. Please read the information about accommodation for Language Centre students. All rooms are for single students only so if you are bringing your family, you will need to search for suitable accommodation in the private sector. You should bookmark this webpage and check it regularly for updates.

 What happens next

1. An offer of accommodation will be emailed to you from June 2010. Read the information carefully and follow the instructions. You may need to print a tenancy and payment form from the web. It is recommended that you pay your reservation fee and rent by credit card, so if you do not own a credit card please apply for one now.
2. Complete and return the tenancy document, your reservation fee and rent payment to the Accommodation Office by your deadline. You will usually be given 7 days to return this information. If you do not reply to your offer by the deadline, a room will not be reserved.
3. Your reservation will be confirmed by email.
4. After your reservation has been confirmed, you should make your travel plans and arrange to arrive between 10.00 and 16.00 (4pm) on the Sunday your tenancy starts. Students going to Woodland Court should also arrange a check-in appointment with the residence. If you do not arrange a check-in time in advance and you are moving into Woodland Court, you may have to wait to move into your room.
5. If moving into Woodland Court, print and complete this Student Record Form. You will need to give this to Woodland Court staff when you arrive.
6. Collect your key from the residence office, or from the Senior Resident if you are moving into Winkworth House or Richmond Terrace..
