Governance

The Education Administration Standards Group is a sub-group of Education and Student Process Senior Management Team (PSMT). The Group will provide a summary report of decisions taken to PSMT and, during the lifetime of the Student Lifecycle Support Programme (SLSP), to the Education IT Board.

Remit

The Education Administration Standards Group will have oversight of processes and administration standards* for education. The group will ensure that processes and administration standards are efficient, comprehensive and user-friendly and improve applicant and student experience. The group will ensure that processes are aligned with academic policy, in the context of Professional Services and applicant and student experience.

The Education Administration Standards Group will:

  1. Approve changes to the Student Lifecycle Support processes and administrative standards, including decisions on accepted alternatives, referred by SLSP or other areas, for inclusion in the Bristol Education Administration Manual (BEAM).
  2. Ensure that the processes and administrative standards that support the Student Lifecycle are implemented consistently across the University, and that the Bristol Education Administration Manual (BEAM) is used effectively, with a focus on student experience.
  3. Act as a source of expertise for the Student Lifecycle Support Programme and as the interface between Academic Registry, Student Recruitment, Access and Admissions, Student Services and the faculties and schools.
  4. Identify the need for academic policy review, administrative standard review, and process review and refer to academic committees or SLSP where appropriate.
  5. Develop and deliver new initiatives and policy changes within faculties, in liaison with SLSP, where appropriate.
  6. Agree, contribute to and develop an annual programme of activities and training for school and faculty staff within the Education and Students’ process, as appropriate, and in conjunction with SLSP.
  7. Plan and agree an annual schedule of work, including ongoing review of processes and administrative standards and maintain an action register.

*Education Administration Standards are defined in the SLSP Policy and Process Change Framework as ‘the management and governance of procedural tasks and outputs. Education Administration Standards are owned by central offices.’
