Terms of Reference

To monitor, review and update, as necessary, each section of the Code in turn and, in doing so, consider the already identified and arising substantive issues for the revision of the Regulations and Code of Practice for Taught Programmes ('the Code') for presentation to Education Committee and Senate, as appropriate.

The Regulations and Code of Practice for Research Degree Programmes are the responsibility of the PGR Code Review Group.

Membership

The membership of the Standing Group for 2016/17 is:

The Deputy University Secretary will attend, as appropriate.

Meeting dates

The Group will meet from time to time to discuss and resolve particular issues or matters relating to assessment, progression and the award of a qualification, during the academic year.

Process for identifying changes to the Code

Other working and standing groups of Education Committee that consider matters relating to the Code  (in particular, the University Undergraduate Studies Committee, the University Graduate Studies Committee, and the University Academic Quality and Standards Committee) will EITHER refer any substantive issue that arises during the academic year to the Group for consideration OR present its own revisions to Education Committee, reported to this group.

Reporting line

The Group will recommend to Education Committee, via the University Academic Quality and Standards Committee, any changes to the Code although significant amendments or additions will also need the approval of Senate.

Any urgent issues that arise outside of a meeting of the Group (i.e. from the examinations process) will be considered by the Chair who, in consultation with the one or both of the Academic Directors of Studies, may ask the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education and Students) for the approval of subsequent revisions to the Code under Chair's action.
