Boot Camp

Boot Camp, Feb 2009
"Boot camp was my first trip with the windsurfing club. It was fantastic and now I'm hooked. I'd hardly windsurfed before, but after the 2 days I felt like I knew what I was supposed to be doing; even if I was still falling in all the time! All the guys from Bristol doing the teaching did a great job and everyone was really friendly. Camping by the lake was awesome and a wicked evening was had by all (helped along by the homebrewed cider). I would recommend this trip to anyone!"

What is Boot Camp?

Boom Camp is a weekend of winsurfing tuition run by the Bristol club. It's a weekend designed especially to improve your windsurfing ability. Whether you've never windsurfed before, or are an intermediate windsurfer, boot camp is for you. By the end of the weekend we aim to have you ready to take your windsurfing to the next level. At the last Boot Camp everyone who went was able to get the "RYA Start Windsurfing" qualification.

What will I learn?

That's completely up to you and your ability. You're taught in small teaching groups, so if there is a particular skill you want to master, just have a chat to your instructor and they will be more than happy to help you out. Here is a list of just a few of the skills people learned at the last boot camp.

When's the next one?

Make sure you join the club and we'll let you know when the next Boot Camp will be. We arrange the boot camp weekends around the SWA events and the University terms. Over the following year we plan to run at least two boot camps, with the possibility of more depending on demand.
